The ball finally got rolling on October 2 in the evening.  At around mid-night, we were at the hospital again.  This time, we were not to be sent home.  Long story short, the next day, on October 3 at 4:45 pm, our baby girl was born.  We named her AGOTA MARIJA GEDRIS.  “Agota” is the Lithuanian form of “Agatha.”  Her English-speaking friends can call her Agatha.  UPDATE: for those who are interested, there is a St. Agatha.

Here are some pictures from our adventure!

An excited Stacey gave us a ride to the hospital.

            Jurga was all smiles!

She was doing some fancy contractin’ in the back of Stacey’s car.

But she became more pensive as the contractions got stronger.

I inspected the room and deemed it fit for birthin’.

The room had a jacuzzi!  We both enjoyed that!!!

It took a little while, and some fancy pushing on the part of Jurga, but eventually our little Agota was born.  Hurray!

She’s a real cutie, but what a set of lungs!

But she doesn’t cry all the time.

Her weight at birth was 3.3 kilos.  That translates into 7 pounds, 5 ounces.

            Mother and daughter….

            Pretty cute, eh?

            The grandparents were certainly happy!

So was the new dad.  But he sure was tired!

The excited Stacey (see top) stopped by to say ‘hi’ to the new baby.

            She’s a natural at this baby-holding stuff!

This is Agota the next day.
